So have you heard/seen that new commercial with Magic Johnson? There are different variations of it on TV/the radio and everytime I hear it, I wonder why he didn't read the script and say absolutely not, because it makes him sound like a cocky bastard. It goes something like this...
"I remember my first season of basketball, when I blew out my knee. The doctor said I was finished for the season, and I knew that was the end of the playoffs for my team. But then the team went on to win the championship game. That's when I realized I didn't have to do it all myself."
Um, hello? Basketball is a TEAM sport, so no, at no point in time were you doing it all yourself. And the commercial is for some tax help service and how they can help you. The writers of the commercial could come up with no other scenario where Magic Johnson might need a little help? And did Magic really look at the script and say "Yep, that sounds about right, I still don't know how they managed it without me."
Does anyone else feel this intensely about this commercial? I'm going to go out on a limb and guess probably not, but for some reason each time I hear it, I like Magic just a little bit less.
I haven't seen it but thanks to my DVR, I rarely see a commercial. That's funny though!
ReplyDeleteI totally with you, I HATE that commercial. The implication that his team was totally helpless without him disgusts me. It makes him sound like a big, pompous, *ss. And I don't know why he did that one. There are others that are not bad, but that one, totally wrong.
