Nothing like 3rd graders to put you in your place.

On Thursday I wore this to Student Teaching.

Please notice that the buttons actually do go in the back. There is even a tag there to prove that is in fact the back of the sweater. And pockets in the front. When the students walked into the classroom, the fun began...

One of the quietest, sweetest little girls asked "Um, Miss B, is your shirt on backwards?" To which I reply, "No, this is how it goes, see the tag in the bag?"

Then the boys start in, "HAHA, today must be backwards day!!!" This is when all of them began turning their shirts around to make them backwards.

"Really, guys, this is how it goes!" I begin to plead.

"Everyone look at Miss B, she's wearing her shirt BACKWARDS!"

"Ok, I promise, this is how it goes, see the tag?"

One boy even asks where I got it, and when I reply Target, he vows to never shop there again because they sell weird clothes.

For the rest of the day, I hear the whispers and giggles. And I was not being paranoid, they really were all talking about me.

And on Friday, it continued when they walked in and were happy to announce that Miss B actually put her shirt on the right way today.

Safe to say, I'll never wear that again.

  1. LOL. I looked at the photo, and I was like, "That's adorable. I think I need that top." Then I read your post! Haha. Gotta love the brutal honesty of students. Dont worry. My high-schoolers have the same interactions and critiques of me. We just can't win!

  2. Haha...hilarious. When I worked at the middle school, sometimes I would show up in the same top as some of my girls and they would practically fall down and DIE of embarrassment. It's funny how much students pay attention to what we wear! :)

  3. That is cute. I had a shirt from GAP in high school that was inside out on purpose. I took a lot of grief for that baby too. = ) All in the name of style. right?

  4. lol. kids are too critical these days and notice everything and ask way too many questions for your own personal comfort. esp when they see you as a friend and not a teacher
